One of the things someone told me before we moved to London was to stick to your plan no matter what the weather does.
Last Sunday I’d planned a day trip to Brighton and woke up to see mist and not much else. It was 4 degrees at 9am.
We put on our coats, jumped on the train from Clapham Junction and a hour later we were in Brighton.
The sky was blue, it was warm and there were people lying on the pebbly beach (mmm comfy!). We had fish and chips and sat in the sun on the stripped deckchairs dotted along the pier. After, we went for a stroll through town checking out the little shops on the lanes, my favourites were this sweet lighting shop and this very sweet chocolatier! Was a gorgeous day, I love the relaxed vibe of Brighton and can’t wait to go back.

It’s starting to get proper cold here in London and I keep seeing shearling jackets in the shops and foxes in my garden. I like both.

Ring from Bjorg. Sometimes it’s nice to stop and rethink the rules. I think.

Be Still Homewares, founded in 2009, is the creation of Australian industrial and graphic designer Sarah Robinson.
I came across Be Still Homewares about six months ago and fell in love with the fresh, clean designs but it wasn’t till today that I revisited the shop again and just had to share it with you. My white lounge sure could use some of these gorgeous cushions.
Check out this gallery of images for more inspiration and follow Sarah on Twitter here.

When we moved to London I was expecting to rent a furnished place. When we found our perfect apartment it was unfurnished so one of our first purchases was a lounge.
I wanted something comfy but not expensive. I went digging through my inspiration folder (how exciting is a blank canvas?!) and saw that most of the lounge room images I’d saved featured a white couch. When we saw that the cheapest couch we wanted in Ikea was white I drew on these images for inspiration.
I hate not being able to credit them (if you know who they belong to let me know!) but I’m pretty sure the bottom right image is from Bodie and Fou.
I like our little Ektorp and I figure, with no kids yet, this is the perfect time to have a white couch! What colour couch have you got?

Love this collection of vintage magazine covers from The Queenslander (my home state!) found via Brain Pickings.
Between 1866 and 1939, The Queenslander made a weekly summary of the Brisbane Courier, now The Courier Mail, newspaper available to the regional and outlying areas of Australia’s Queensland state.
See the whole set here.

Some of my husband’s family live in Belgium so a few weeks ago we thought we’d hire a car and drive from London via the channel tunnel.
I get nervous in elevators so the idea of sitting in a car on a train going under the English Channel wasn’t something I was looking forward to!! I buried myself in a magazine and couldn’t believe it when we came out the other side in less than 30 minutes! We were in France in 30 minutes! I still can’t believe it.
We drove through the Ardennes region and it was absolutely stunning. The forest was exactly like the print on that cushion. On the way we stopped at a tiny brewery and a little chocolatier. The girls working there seemed so happy – I could see why!! I can’t wait to go back.

I’m really keen to get back into cooking. Since we moved and my husband started working long hours I’ve been a bit slack on the cooking front – spending time to make a proper meal for one just isn’t that appealing. So I’ve decided it’s the perfect time to add some recipes to my repertoire. Doesn’t matter if there’s a few things that just don’t work out.
I’ve ordered the French cookbook I Know How to Cook by Ginette Mathiot. It’s got 1,400 recipes. That should keep me going. Also, it has lovely illustrations.
